Artist BiographyAvailable in:

Balcon sans princesse is an independent pop-rock band from Shawinigan, now based in Trois-Rivières. Formed in 2019 by Félix Bruneau and Xavier Laverdière, the group was later completed with the addition of Dereck Pichette and Thomas Bertrand. Since its beginnings, Balcon sans princesse has performed in numerous venues including Le Zénob, Le Gambrinus, L’Entité, Le Backstore, the Cabaret de l’Amphithéâtre Cogeco, La Bezotte, Le Quai des Brumes, and Café 440.
Their music offers a captivating blend of pop and indie rock, defined by catchy melodies, driving rhythms, and introspective ballads. With dynamic guitars, expressive basslines and percussion, they explore universal themes such as love, self-discovery, and the beauty of simple moments — all through poetic lyrics in French.
In September 2021, they released their debut EP, Dans un autre rêve, warmly received by audiences. The track Café, accompanied by a music video, marked their official entry onto the Quebec music scene.
In April 2023, they released Laisse-moi (le temps), a single that quickly rose to the top of the French-language chart at CFOU 89.1. This success was followed in June 2023 by Me vois-tu le soir?, a track featured on SiriusXM’s Attitude Franco. On June 27, 2024, they unveiled the title track of their upcoming album, Nouvelles couleurs, followed by Petit oiseau on November 19, 2024. The latter continues to receive regular airplay on Radio-Canada.
The band delivered standout performances throughout 2023 and 2024, including at L'Ultime Édition – Festival de la Solidarité Musicale alongside artists like Violett Pi and Lydia Képinski, as well as opening for Malaimé Soleil and Jérôme 50. Their appearances at FestiVoix in Trois-Rivières and Festival La Quarence further solidified their reputation as key players on Quebec’s independent music scene.
Their first full-length album, Nouvelles Couleurs, was released on February 15, 2025. It features all four of their previously released singles, including remastered versions of Laisse-moi (le temps) and Me vois-tu le soir?. The official CD launch took place with a special show at Le Zénob on February 28, 2025.
Known for their captivating live performances, powerful melodies, and a musical style that’s both accessible and richly textured, Balcon sans princesse continues to win over a growing audience with their boundless energy and creative spirit.
