Wargasm was a 3-piece metal band from Boston, MA that was active from 1985 to 1995. They released 3 albums and toured internationally.
Wargasm first formed in 1982 under the name Overkill. In 1985, they changed their name to Maniac, releasing a five-song demo, called "Rainbows, Kittens, Flowers and Puppies". By 1986, they had again changed their name to Wargasm.
In 2004, the band reunited for one more show, a benefit which was recorded for an upcoming CD / DVD release.
In 2008 the band reunited once again to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of their album "Why Play Around?" and to release the long awaited DVD "Knee Deep in the Middle East: Live in Boston" with 2 shows: in Cambridge MA at the Middle East club and in Providence RI at Club Hell. The band played "Why Play Around?" in its entirety and in order, along with other material. Both shows sold out.
Wargasm is often referred to as a 'Thrash Metal' band, and their music does contain elements of thrash, but the band has always viewed it's music as a hybrid of thrash, traditional metal and the NWOBHM.
