Strapping Young Lad (oder einfach SYL), eine Kreation des kanadischen Komponisten und Produzenten Devin Townsend, ist eine Speed-Industrial-Metal-Band, die sich durch extrem schnelle und "thrashige" Songs auszeichnet, angeführt von den jetzt schreienden, jetzt melodischen Vocals von Devin selbst und eine kraftvolle "Wall of Sound" -Technik, die unter Verwendung mehrerer Effektschichten erhalten wurde und zu einem charakteristischen Merkmal aller Werke von Devin wurde.
