Lewis Allan „Lou“ Reed (* 2. März 1942 in New York; † 27. Oktober 2013 in East Hampton, New York) war ein US-amerikanischer Songwriter, Gitarrist und Sänger. Er war zusammen mit John Cale Gründungsmitglied der einflussreichen Rockband The Velvet Underground, welche in der Frühphase von Andy Warhol gefördert wurde. Durch sein Schaffen in den 1960er und 1970er Jahren erarbeitete sich Reed den Ruf als Wegbereiter von Genres wie Punk, Noise-Rock oder Industrial.
