Cradle of Filth es un grupo de Metal Extremo, formado en 1991, en Suffolk, Reino Unido.

Su estilo musical, cuya clasificación ha originado una gran controversia,evolucionó del black metal y del Death Metal de sus primeros trabajos hacia una amalgama más limpia que abarca black metal ,Metal sinfónico,speed metal,thrash metal,death metal , doom metal y metal gotico , llegando asi la banda a crear un estilo unico , Sus temas líricos e imágenes son grandemente influenciados por la literatura gótica, la poesía, la mitología y películas de terror. La banda ha librado exitosamente su nicho , y esto ha traído consigo un aumento en cobertura por revistas como Kerrang! y MTV, frecuentes apariciones en el escenario de los principales festivales como lo son Ozzfest, Download e incluso el Sziget Festival, Algunas veces han sido percibidos como satánicos, aunque sus referencias al satanismo son pocas y distantes, y el uso de imágenes satánicas sin duda siempre ha tenido más que ver con crear una fuerte impresión que con sus creencias. Según la revista Metal Hammer, es la banda de Metal británica con mayor éxito desde Iron Maiden.

En la actualidad la banda está formada por el vocalista Dani Filth, el bajista Dave Pybus, los guitarristas Paul Allender y James MciIlroy, y Martin Skaroupka como batería.
