Album Description
Available in:
Back in 2017 when a certain breakable sword swinging game came out for Switch I had been out of gaming for a good decade. To put it lightly the game was life changing, in that it's invitation to explore its world inspired me to look for freedom in my own. As I dug deeper into the music I abandoned my job that spring and looked for something that made me feel free.

Long story short, I found it.

It's because of this experience that I felt compelled to give the resulting album (Divine Beats) a sequel when Tears of the Kingdom came out this year. I wanted to show my appreciation through the evolution of my sound while still remaining true to what made Divine Beats such an important album for us.

SO! Here it is! Beats of the Kingdom. For those that played the game you know that much of the first games soundtrack made a return, and while I contemplated just flipping the same songs at first, I kept finding little sequences in Tears that were new and had such great emotional impact that I was drawn to them. "Mattison's Goodbye" is perhaps the best example of this, as a side quest that is not required at all to complete the main story and yet one of the most touching moments in any Zelda game to date. For anyone who missed these small moments I invite you to seek them out, just as in life it is the small moments which burn with the most warmth.

Yes, there are some returns on this album as well. I couldn't NOT include some nods to Tarrey Town and Hateno! In these instances I tried my best to present the material in a new way so that this album can serve as accompaniment to the original rather than as a replacement. There's a lot more live performance going into these songs, and through this I hid some melodies from older Zelda games within the instrumentations so If you listen close you might be able to hear them.

I think without reading this, you probably already got the gist of what this album is all about. It's a chill, laid back, beat laden interpretation of the music from a game which stirred excitement in my heart. A love letter.

From my heart to yours.
Much Love,
Wiz
