"Shovels & Rope" is the first full length studio album from American folk duo Shovels & Rope, released December 2, 2008 on the Our House label.
Although Shovels & Rope is the first album recorded by Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent they were not at the time an official duo, the album was recorded as a co-bill under their individual names, not intended to ever create a permanent act. It was 2012 before the pair committed to their joint venture and released their next album ("O' Be Joyful") together under the Shovels & Rope name.
