"Jonah's Ark" is the third full-length album by British folk metal band Skyclad, released in 1993 on the Noise label.
The band had reduced the Thrash elements to the point where they supported the Folk elements rather than overrode them, and is considered by many as the first true Folk Metal album.
Fritha Jenkins was now a permanent member in the lineup and it was surprisingly good how fitting some violin solo or lead themes were tying with the rough-edged riffing of the songs.
This album is impressively diverse. It starts out with a violin and a mandolin intro, which changes to a thrashing guitar riff of "Thinking Allowed", one of the best songs here. "Cry of the Land" is another highlight. Written in a 3/4 time signature, it presents the band's unusually mellow playing, with many acoustic guitars, and a dominating violin, perhaps, for the first time in their discography.
