It did not chart in the United States, despite receiving airplay in several markets. It is one of the fewer than 10 all-time singles to have sold 15 million (or more) copies worldwide, currently being #7 on the list of best-selling singles of all time, with an estimated total of 18 million. Baccara were Spanish flamenco dancers Mayte Mateos and Maria Mendiola, who were dancing flamenco and singing traditional songs for tourists on the island of Fuerteventura when RCA executive Leon Deane signed them up.
