The song was written by Flo Rida, Dr. Luke, Cirkut, Breyan Isaac, Arash Pournouri and Tim Bergling, and contains a vocal sample of "Something's Got a Hold on Me" (1962) by Etta James, as written by James, Leroy Kirkland, and Pearl Woods. Bergling's song "Levels" (released under his artist name of Avicii), which also sampled the Etta James song, is used as the primary musical sample under Flo Rida's rapping.
