"If Looks Could Kill" is the name of a song written by Jack Conrad and Bob Garrett, recorded by rock band Heart. It was released as the fifth and final single from the band's self-titled 1985 album Heart. Musically the song is similar to early Heart tunes as it is an aggressive, hard rock number. In the song, lead vocalist Ann Wilson confronts a cheating lover, letting him know that "if looks could kill / you'd be lying on the floor".
After four top-ten U.S. singles (including the number-one "These Dreams") from the Heart album, "If Looks Could Kill" stalled at number fifty-four on the Billboard Hot 100. The band would rebound the following year with Bad Animals, and their most successful single yet ("Alone").
"If Looks Could Kill" was originally recorded by Pamala Stanley in 1985. Stanley's pop version was featured in the Arnold Schwarzenegger film Raw Deal in 1986 and also was recorded by the noruegan actress and pop singer Mia Gundersen on her record Temptation in the same year.
