Black Veils of Melancholy is the second single from the English group Status Quo. He will be on the track list of Picturesque Matchstickable Messages from the Status Quo released on September 27, 1968.
Released on March 29, 1968 on the Pye Records label and produced by John Schroeder, it was heavily criticized for its too close resemblance to the previous single Pictures of Matchstick Men and will not make the UK charts. On the other hand it will make a short appearance of two weeks in the German charts where it will reach the 36th place.
The B side is a composition by organist Roy Lynes which will not appear on the album. She will be on the Status Quo-tations compilation released in November 1969.
