The song was written by Johntá Austin, Tor Erik Hermansen, Mikkel Eriksen, Espen Lind and Amund Bjørklund while production was helmed by Stargate. The song was released as the album's third single on December 4, 2007 in the United States. It was later released internationally on March 21, 2008. "With You" is composed as slow pop and R&B ballad that features an acoustic guitar as the base of the arrangement.

"With You" was generally well received by music critics with many praising the composition and lyrics. The song, however, garnered comparisons to Beyoncé Knowles' 2006 single "Irreplaceable". The song was a commercial success as it topped the charts in New Zealand and peaked inside the top five in several countries. In the United States, "With You" peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and at number one on the US Pop Songs chart. The music video for "With You" was directed by Brown and Erik White. The video focuses more on Brown and his dance moves while utilizing several visual effects. It won the accolade for "Best Male Video" at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.
