It features rap verses from American rapper Juelz Santana. The song was released as his debut single on June 30, 2005. The R&B single has been described as a de-crunked version of Usher's 2004 single "Yeah!".
"Run It!" was generally well received by music critics; many praised Brown's vocals and Scott Storch's production. Commercially, the song was successful, peaking inside the top ten in six countries and the top twenty in four. The song also managed to top the charts in the United States, Australia and New Zealand. The music video earned nominations at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards for "Best New Artist" and "Viewer's Choice".
