"I Never Loved You Anyway" is a single by The Corrs, released in 1997, taken from their second album Talk on Corners.
The video was, for a change, shot entirely in Ireland, in an old abandoned market building in Dublin.
As opposed to the previous video for "Only When I Sleep" which had a very stylish feeling, "I Never Loved You Anyway" should present a more casual look of the Corrs. This is not only obvious in the setting which looks very simple, but also in the scenes where the band members are exchanging their instruments: Caroline the violin, Sharon the guitar, Jim the tin whistle and Andrea the bodhrán etc. They all seem very playful in trying out these "new" instruments, adding extra fun to the already more lighthearted video.
Director Dani Jacobs holds the record for shooting Corrs videos: he directed "I Never Loved You Anyway", "Dreams", "So Young", "What Can I Do", "Would You Be Happier?" and Andrea's solo single "Shame on You". For this video, he chose to add a few visual gimmicks in the form of shooting through transparent photos of flowers and small pieces of mirror. The writings on the walls which can be seen throughout the video were added later after Jacobs went around town filming graffiti and poetry. The words "I Never Loved You Anyway" however could be found nowhere and had to be written on a wall.
During shooting the video, the Irish weather fulfilled its bad reputation and so it was raining a lot. As the building had been abandoned, seagulls had taken it into possession and were flying in and out of the building. Sharon once said that in some shots, you can, in fact, see the birds landing in the galleries.
