Bryan Adams wrote 'Straight From the Heart' when he was 18 years old in the late 1970s. Although Adams did not release his version of the song until 1982, the song was first recorded by Ian Lloyd in 1980, on his album Third Wave Civilization. Later, the song was covered by teen band Rosetta Stone in 1982 (issued as a single in November that year, a mere month before Bryan's version came out as a single) and Bonnie Tyler for her album "Faster Than the Speed of Night", the album released the same year as "Cuts Like a Knife".
