"It's Too Late (To Love Me Now)" is a song written by Rory Michael Bourke, Gene Dobbins, and Johnny Wilson. It was first recorded by Charly McClain on her 1977 debut album Here's Charly McClain and subsequently by Dolly Parton on her 20th studio album Heartbreaker in 1978. It was also released by Cher as the third single for her fifteenth album Take Me Home in 1979.
It was to date Cher's only release to country radio. The Cher record made a modest dent on the country charts but the following year the song was a top ten hit for Jeanne Pruett. Dottie West also recorded a cover version of the song, shortly after Cher's single, on her Special Delivery album. In 1989, Lorrie Morgan included her version of the song in her debut album Leave the Light On.
