Track Description
Available in:
"Where Do You Think You're Going?" is a song written by Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler for their 1979 album Communiqué. It begins as a soft, almost acoustic riff played on the electric guitar. The lyrics appear to be about domestic abuse, with lines such as "Don't you know it's dark outside, where do think you're going, don't you care about my pride?", "You know I'd like you to be free" and "Think you better go with me, girl". After the second verse, drums, bass and backing guitars come in, with the drumbeat slow at first, but gaining tempo after a reprise of the first verse. Then, Mark Knopfler plays a guitar solo, which carries on as the piece fades out. A previously unreleased mix was released on Money for Nothing.
