Gautier Jean Capuçon was born on September 3, 1981 in Chambéry, the Capuçon family is from the commune of Les Chapelles en Savoie.
After obtaining first prizes for cello and piano in his hometown of Chambéry, Gautier Capuçon improved his skills at the Paris Conservatory with Annie Cochet-Zakine and Philippe Muller.
In September 2007, he married Delphine Borsarello, cellist, second of six children of Jean-Luc Borsarello, violinist. They have since been parents to two daughters named Fée and Sissi.
A very precocious musician, in 1998 he won the First Prize of the Maurice Ravel International Music Academy of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and, in the following years, several international awards.
