Artist Biography Available in: Uura Saeka is a Japanese vocalist and guitarist. From her musical debut in 2006 until 2009 she was signed to GIZA studio. In 2011 she returned to the music scene, recording with Universal Music Japan under the name Cherie and continuing with the up tempo pop-rock style for which she was already known. In mid 2012 she reverted to her original name and most recently has been working in musical theatre. By the time she was six, Uura moved from Kagoshima Prefecture to Chiba Prefecture. She spent her high school and college years in Kansai. Uura debuted her music career with the single "Tears: Namida wa Misetakunai" in the 27 December 2006. In the 14 March 2007 she released the single "Sha la la –Ayakashi Night–", produced by B'z member Koshi Inaba, which became a hit. Uura became the first Being artist to carry out promotional activities in Myspace. Saeka has been influenced by music since she was a child because of her parents. She aspired to be a musician after seeing a live DVD of Kondo Fusanosuke's at the age of 16. Before her musical debut however, she worked as a model for Seventeen Japan and also had small acting parts. Between 2006 and 2009 Saeka performed regularly at GIZA's THURSDAY LIVE concerts, held at Hills Bread Factory in Osaka. In the 1 February 2011 she moved to Universal Music Japan and changed her name to Cherie. She changed to her original name later in the 30 August 2012.
