Get the Shot was founded in Quebec in 2009. In December of the same year, the quintet released a self-produced EP. The first album followed in 2012 on the Canadian label Outside Music; since then they have changed labels with each subsequent album. In 2013, Get the Shot completed a European tour. In 2017 the band played two tours in Europe, in February as part of the You are Part of This tour with Comeback Kid and Deez Nuts and in November with Nasty and Lionheart. In 2018, the band performed as part of a European tour at France's Hellfest and later in the year Heavy Montréal in Canada.
