Artist Biography

"Joyce Manor" is an American rock band from Torrance, California, formed in 2008. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Barry Johnson, guitarist Chase Knobbe, drummer Jeff Enzor and bassist and back-up vocalist Matt Ebert.
Joyce Manor got its start in late 2008, conceived as the acoustic pop-punk duo of Barry Johnson (vocals, guitar) and Chase Knobbe (guitar). That idea didn't last long, however, and the band ultimately expanded, with friends coming and going until the lineup settled down a year later with the addition of Kurt Walcher (drums) and Matt Ebert (bass, vocals).
In the fall of 2014, drummer Kurt Walcher was replaced by Jeff Enzor.
They sing about relationships and sentimentality and being a completely lost young person, the way pop-punk bands do. But their songs are brief and headlong rushes — LPs ending in under 20 minutes, songs that barely ever bother to repeat the chorus twice.
