Legend was a heavy metal band from New Haven in Connecticut, formed in 1978. The band split up in 1979.
Legend became true legends on the basis of a single, extremely rare, album called "From The Fjords".
Although from the US, one of the strangest things about their music is that the sound and attitude is almost pure NWoBHM - despite the early date of release of the album and the scarcity.
Kevin Nugent and Fred Melillo met at the Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven CT.
They would go to high school for just a few classes a day, then hop on a bus and spend the rest of the day playing music.
Kevin and Fred played in a rock and roll cover band called Edge that played all over the North East.
Kevin then met Ray Frigon and bass player John Judge. Things didn't work out with John, and Fred was enlisted for the line-up that would cut the cult classic From The Fjords, of which only 500 were originally pressed, and another 500 were recently pressed - but immediately sold out.
Sadly, Kevin passed away in 1983. Fred Melillo still plays and teaches music, and the whereabouts of Ray Frignon is unknown.
