Artist BiographyAvailable in:
Werner Becker (born December 4, 1943 in Celle), aka Anthony Ventura, is a musician, arranger and producer of German music.
He grew up in Hamburg and learned piano from his neighbors who owned one. He arrives so well in music that he learns other instruments such as accordion, guitar or trumpet. At age 11, he plays these instruments in a group.
Despite his talent, he became a typographer and then an advertising artist until 1964. A year earlier, he discovered with the band "Melodic Telstars" the Hammond organ. He devotes himself entirely to music. Then he gets married and has two daughters.
In 1970, he is a member of the big band "Die Studiker" where he begins to make arrangements and discovers the studio work. In Hamburg, he meets Dicky Tarrach, the drummer of Rattles (de). In 1972 he played piano with Randy Pie (de). However, in full krautrock mode, the group is not very successful, so he continues to work as an arranger.
In 1973, while listening to Je t'aime ... moi non plus, the producer Reinhard Streit has the idea to highlight the Hammond organ in orchestral compositions. Werner Becker is in charge of arranging, mixing and recording soloists. The first album Je t'aime - Traum Melodien takes classic melodies. Because of his presence in Randy Pie, he takes the pseudonym of "Orchester Anthony Ventura". He thus successfully creates his own orchestral sound for the big easy listening market and publishes until 1982 ten albums in the series "Je t'aime".
Becker leaves Randy Pie in 1977 and focuses on his own projects. He tried to participate, under the name of W. W. Becker, in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975, without success. The Anthony Ventura project remains essentially a studio recording project despite some concerts with musicians.
The sixth album "I love you" 20 Traum Melodien is number 1 in 1978.
In 1980, music publisher Hans Rudolf Beierlein (de) joined the project and, during a media campaign on television and in the press, elected "the most beautiful melodies in the world". These melodies are then recorded and recorded by Anthony Ventura. The album, sold for the benefit of the fight against cancer, remains for ten weeks number 1 sales. The following is also the following year.
But in the 1980s, the success of dance bands was running out of steam. In the end, Reinhard Streit goes away. In 1986, Becker returned to the group Randy Pie (de) the time of an album. Then he publishes three albums still of this kind between 1992 and 1995 that go unnoticed.
Werner Becker is dedicated to production. He produces and arranges many well-known schlager artists such as Klaus und Klaus, Nino by Angelo, Roy Black, Howard Carpendale and Matthias Reim, as well as international artists such as Mayte Mateos (of Baccarat), Engelbert, Bonnie Tyler, Roger Whittaker. In 2000, he participated in the successes of Jeanette Biedermann and No Angels.
Becker has his own recording studio in Buchholz in der Nordheide. He started playing country music and played in bands with Danish guitarist Nils Tuxen (who was back from Randy Pie in 1986). In 2004, he made arrangements for the album and played during the concerts of Country Goes Classic which mixes classical and country music.
