Kataklysm (abgeleitet von Kataklysmus) ist eine franko-kanadische Death-Metal-Band aus Montreal, Québec. Besonderes Kennzeichen der Band sind die schnellen Schlagzeugparts, die von der Band selbst als „Northern Hyperblast“ bezeichnet werden. Heute gehören Kataklysm zu den erfolgreichsten Bands im Death Metal.

Die Band Kataklysm wurde im Jahr 1991 von Sylvain Houde, Jean-François Dagenais, Maurizio Iacono sowie Ariel Saied in Montreal gegründet.

Kataklysm spielen Death Metal, der vor allem durch aggressive Schlagzeug- und melodische Gitarrenspuren geprägt ist. Ihren Stil bezeichnen sie selbst häufig als „Northern Hyperblast“, eine Abwandlung des Blastbeats, wobei hier durchgehende Sechzehntelnoten auf der Snare Drum, teilweise mit langsamer anstatt der typischerweise schnell gespielten Bassdrum kombiniert, typisch sind.
