Carole King (* 9. Februar 1942 als Carol Joan Klein in Manhattan, New York) ist eine US-amerikanische Sängerin, Songschreiberin und Pianistin. Bei ihren Live-Auftritten spielt sie außerdem gelegentlich Gitarre. Mit dem Album Tapestry trug sie entscheidend zur Etablierung des Singer-Songwriter-Genres bei. Sie ist zugleich eine der erfolgreichsten Songschreiberinnen der Rock- und Popmusik. Mehr als hundert ihrer Songs waren in den Top 100 der US-amerikanischen Billboard-Single-Charts vertreten.
