KAYO DOT is a compositional/avant rock band based in Brooklyn, NY, with a dark, cinematic, and dreamlike aesthetic. All of our members are multi-instrumentalists, giving a tremendous amount of eclecticism and color to our sound. We use guitar, violin, trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, flute, synthesizer, organ, piano, bass, vibraphone, gongs, crotales, drumset, french horn, trombone, and more. Kayo Dot is led by composer Toby Driver, a prominent member of the younger generation of downtown NYC composers and experimental musicians. Toby has worked with progressive luminaries such as John Zorn, Trey Spruance (Secret Chiefs, Mr. Bungle), G. Stuart Dahlquist (Burning Witch, Asva, Sunn0))), Aaron Turner (Isis), Randall Dunn (Master Musicians of Bukkake, Sunn0))), Jeremiah Cymerman, and others. Kayo Dot has two satellite bands - maudlin of the Well, and Tartar Lamb. Please investigate the music of these bands as well, as we feel they are completely relevant to what Kayo Dot is doing.
