The Sixth Generation. A turning point for home consoles. Here we found comfort in aesthetics as long standing franchises began to experiment not only with the mechanics of 3D gaming, but also with full audio soundtracks that departed from the cartridge-based soundfonts of the 64 bit era.
For many, the Gamecube stands as their introduction into long standing series like Zelda and Mario Kart, and while we were obsessed with the Y2K flavors of the console itself, the library provided experiences unlike anything we had ever dreamt about. It was a console looking back to the past, with collections of previous gen games becoming available for nostalgic gamers.
Think of this collection in much the same way. It is a look back to a period of time we are nostalgic for, with games off the beaten path that hold significance to us. Whether it's the calm of Worms 3D or the eerie atmosphere of Eternal Darkness, the Gamecube offered many different vibes for us to reflect on and this is just a little way for us to say we still love it.
