It's 2023 and people are still finding inspiration in the genre we call home!
This compilation of 27 artists encompasses just how large this genre has grown...Okay maybe not in commercial or critical acclaim, but in terms of inclusiveness I can't think of any other genre which could mean so many different sounds or approaches.
We've lived through the days of arguing what vaporwave is or isn't and this collection embraces the inclusion of emerging sounds like breakbeat (with artists like celadonDREAM Suite) as well appreciating as the longevity of classic sounds which have the power to hypnotize listeners (MVCHINATIONS, alrightBABES, Cinematic Sequences etc.).
While in the early days a sense of anonymity was to be admired, nowadays we find comfort in understanding the individuals who are entertaining us, and so I encourage everyone to reach out and support these artists by getting to know them.
The Up & Comers tapes are my favorite to put out because the motivation is pure and simple: expose listeners to the new faces in the scene in an effort to allow community building and maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
That said, I hope this finds you relaxing, ready to find your new favorite artists!
