An association I will be holding dear to me until the day I can no longer think for myself: bedroom pop belongs to the U.S.. Don't get me wrong: it belongs to the whole world, but where else is there a more poorly kept secret to the nations' way of life than wealth inequality as portrayed here in the United States? I didn't get to start buying some instruments until I was nearly 30, but now that I have the means to try and make music from something other than cracked software or trial versions of popular soundcrafting tools, I find myself wanting to reflect back at the world that brought me here.
This postcard came into my possession after being selected as a gift by my partner on our trip to North Carolina in the late springtime of June 2017, antiquing in one of many country-style warehouses in the center of the Piedmont-region. I knew I would make music to this image one day, and I am so glad I waited until my compositional years to conduct this.
This conjoined adventure between newcomer alias Wave Notation and long-standing Star Key regional Decubellis Dreams is in dedication to the kind of music you find over at FOTOshoppe Co, my very favorite American label of any kind. Whereas I helped represent FL in the vaporwave sphere, they did CA. This attempts to capture the same freeform energy that lets labels such as these be so stupendous and awe-inducing to follow. While I know my own music doesn't quite constitute a moment of awe from the general listener, I know that I'll find whoever this is meant to be heard by.
