MICROMECHA and UNDERSAKEN met online through an interesting turn of fate. Both had a shared idea: they desired to experiment with chopped, screwed and slowed down drum and bass/jungle music. They wanted, at the same time and in different parts of the world, to label their sound tests as "Barber Breaks" and through that shared idea alone, they united between vast distances to make it so.
Like a Knight from the medieval past and a Mecha Warrior from the distant future, they transcended the boundaries of time and space, joining forces and causes.
They are finally happy to share with you their musical journey, hoping you will like the experience.
From the label: the tale of a knight and a robot. It is rare to find when two artists from separate worlds can share a vision without compromise. When I first hear MECHA SAKEN in the summer of 2024 I was struck by the ability these two had to convey a cohesive vision. As I went from track to track it was as if the album had been produced with these two in the same room, yet looking into their global origins nothing could be further from the truth. To say then, that this album has a united vision is a testament to the strength of artistic direction. With united goals, artists can come together and meld their sounds so that the whole is allowed to flourish at the behest of each part's coordinated effort.
All this is to say that I think it's a beautiful thing; sharing vision and making art. I hope that in issuing out this particular project, the dark fantasy that these two weave can serve as a reminder to the potential strengths we might find in one another.
