aka Professional Hairdresser Jumps The Shark/On The Bandwagon - I used AI to make this.
Boo! Hiss!
But wait a minute! What I actually did was generate a ton of AI songs, then split them apart and used them, effectively, as a collection of free loops. ie. no songs I generated were used as-is.
AI software, specifically for music/video/art creation, is a fun toy. But, and maybe you're with me on this, it's a bit shady that developers don't make it clear exactly where they get their data from so I'm hesitant to think of these things as serious tools worth using on a regular basis.
Maybe this will change one day, who knows? For now, let's try and turn things on their head and remake robot-generated media into weird, human art. And let's do it quickly before the robots stop us.
I generated around 50 AI songs, but I did not use any as-is on this record; they were broken into stems, then broken down again, and so on. Maybe AI music tools will use this album for AI songs haha
I predominantly used Suno and Udio to generate the source songs; the latter to its credit does seem especially good at generating dissonant weirdness, although both are more than capable of generating absolute garbage.
I doubt I'll do this for any PH release ever again, but it was an enjoyable experiment. I hope that it's as fun to listen to as it was for me to mutate!
Original album artwork by but it's taken from a story called Massacre of Mankind, from Nightmare 2, 1971 // Design and layout by PH // November 2024 // 100% recycled from dead robots
