SCRIPTURE OF DEDICATION: Joshua 10:13
"And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day."
In the plethora of miraculous happenings from within this first post-Pentateuch book, we see how the Lord intercedes and goes ahead into the battle for those whom He has commanded and called. In order to settle the land of Canaan with the wandering multitude of the last forty years, the children of Israel are sent forth into numerous battles. In this one particular encounter at Gibeon however, a miracle occurs in that "And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel." (ref. Joshua 10:14, the following verse). A show of endorsement such as this in the supernatural must have been a tremendously jarring and defeat-inducing sensation for the enemy by which they were fighting against.
The modern application is to remember that this isn't meant to be applied by flesh and blood battle of physical strife. When you have any kind of conflict, your prayer in the name of Christ and your faith in Him will be your prevailing force, a light that never goes out just like the Sun in the sky all that day whereby they needed to prevail. You too can look to Christ to be that everlasting light. Abide in Him and He will not cease to light the way.
