Haven't been to New York City in nearly six years, where prior to that the last time I was there was over twenty years ago. I did get to visit Long Island a little over a year ago, but more on that in a future entry. My family took me on vacations to the city between the ages of 3 and 8 most notably, where they all grew up nearby and worked in the city in the 20th century up until 1987-88.
I am as much a tourist to the city as any Florida-born man; having New Yorker parents doesn't make me as savvy a native, but I have high respect for the metropolis I hold American heritage towards.
