Rahman's soundtrack for this nuanced tale of complex relationships shows his ability to complement sophisticated stories while still keeping things accessible. There are no big, booming dance anthems here; instead, Rahman offers up a string of reflective, sometimes moody tunes like the gently evocative instrumental "Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera (Shenai)," or the spare "Aahista Aahista," in which Udit Narayan and Sadhana Sargam's tender vocals dance dreamily around one other. But even at their most ethereal, these songs maintain Rahman’s musical sense of immediacy.
