Led by Salil Chowdhury, the stars of India’s ‘70s music scene banded together for one of the era’s most celebrated melodramas. Anand features ‘bits of timelessness’ with Rajesh Khanna in “Bade Chhupe Rustam Babumoshai”, while a rare appearance by legendary playback singer Manna Dey is delightfully captured in “Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli”. The moving, caramel vocals of Mukesh also stand out, with two soaring tunes grounded by his voice's depth: “Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaye”, which floats with simple harmonic progressions, and “Maine Tere Liye", the bell-like tones of which resound throughout.
