User Album Review
This review is for the "Complete Greatest Hits" CD by Gordon Lightfoot. First, let me assure you that these are the original hits...and they sound superb! Lightfoot so smoothly and naturally has graced the charts...it's easy to forget just how many hits he's had! "If You Could Read My Mind", the first tune I recall from Gordon in about 1970 is as cool now as it was then. Awesome."Carefree Highway", "Rainy Day People", "Sundown", and so many more. I've always loved Anne Murray's wonderful take on Gordon's "Cotton Jenny"...a big hit for her in the early 70's. Well, Lightfoot, her fellow Canadian, treats us to his spectacular version here. From his "Endless Wire" album, the great "Daylight Katy" is on this hits CD too. (A nitpick for me, I do wish Rhino included too the smooth single "Dreamland" , also from "Endless Wire". Not a huge hit, so I understand its omission. I also "get" that one can't have everything!). All in all, this is a smooth-as-silk, collector's gem. So career- spanning, and such a great platform for Gordon Lightfoot's music legacy. A must-have, and destined to be a favorite CD of your collection. Highest Recommendation!
