In the past, she has had Top 20 singles, her previous four albums have all reached Top 30, her YouTube videos have received over 50 million views, 240 million Spotify streams, and she is the first X Factor contestant to play the renowned Glastonbury Festival. She is no doubt also content in her personal life with her partner “G”.
It all reflects in Lucy’s music, a folky rock concoction that runs the spectrum from Courtney Barnett on the rockier end and Ed Sheeran on the poppy side, and Scottish singer/songwriter KT Tunstall somewhere in the middle.
Spraggan had no problem flexing her good vocal muscles so far, and Today Was A Good Day is no exception in that respect, one is the fact that she has a knack for a good melody, “Lucky Stars” and “Don’t Play This On The Radio” being the exceptional songs here in that respect.
All that is coupled with tasteful arrangements that never go over the top but let Spraggan do what she does best. Based on this album, those viewing and streaming numbers will just keep on growing.
