Das Album enthält zwölf Songs, darunter die drei Singles "The Most Beautiful Boy In The World", "If Eye Love U 2night" und "The Rhythm Of Your Heart".

User Album Review
This 1996 full-length debut from Prince protégé and eventual wife Mayte features the Puerto Rican-born singer/dancer performing 12 dance-pop tracks that fans of New Power Generation-era Prince should enjoy. With compositional and production credits on nine tracks, and considerable vocal and guitar work, Child of the Sun is very much a Prince project, leaving Mayte's vocalist role fairly limited. While certainly a capable singer, Mayte's work is generally unremarkable when compared to her mentor's awesome production and musicianship. The ballad "Love's No Fun" gives Mayte the chance to show off her pipes, and the multi-talented artist manages to do a decent job. Her rapping on the "Brick House" cover "House of Brick" is not exactly a triumph, suggesting that the performer should stick to the lighter demands of upbeat dance numbers like "Baby Don't Care." Mayte's softly mixed pop vocals don't really stand up to the fabulous beds provided by her husband, leaving Child of the Sun beneath any real Prince offering, but fans who can't get enough New Power Generation music will be satisfied with Mayte's well-assisted entrance into the music game.
