"One Nite Alone..." ist das 25. Studioalbum, und nach dem 1998 veröffentlichten "The Truth" das zweite Akustikalbum von Prince. Es erschien bei seinem eigenen Label NPG Records und wurde ab dem 14. Mai 2002 an die Mitglieder seiner damaligen Webseite NPG Music Club verschickt. Es lag außerdem dem Livealbum "One Nite Alone... Live!" bei, das den Mitgliedern des NPG Music Club ab dem 24. November 2002 zugesandt wurde. Das Album enthält zehn Songs, und seine Laufzeit beträgt 34 Minuten und 59 Sekunden. Aus "One Nite Alone..." wurden keine Singles ausgekoppelt. Das Albumcover gestalteten die Fotografen Steve Parke und Jeremy Gavin.
Die Albumaufnahmen fanden im Frühjahr 2001 in den Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen statt. Die Arrangements der Songs auf "One Nite Alone..." basieren hauptsächlich auf dem Klavier, ergänzt durch einige Soundeffekte und wenige andere Instrumente. Prince spielt alle Songs auf dem Piano - der Untertitel des Albums lautet "Solo Piano And Voice By Prince". Da das Album nur für Mitglieder seiner damaligen Webseite NPG Music Club erhältlich war, wurde es in den internationalen Musikcharts nicht geführt. Erst im Jahr 2015 wurde das Album auch über den Musikstreaming-Dienst Tidal als Download veröffentlicht.

Piano and voice in content. Prince initially released the album to subscribers of npgmusicclub.com and later included in the boxset One Nite Alone… Live – also only in the copies shipped directly to members.
One Nite Alone… is Prince’s first album to contain new material and not to have a full commercial release, it was therefore ineligible to chart. One Nite Alone… was recorded at Paisley Park during the same sessions for The Rainbow Children and includes the cover of Joni Mitchell’s A Case Of You. A reworked and rerecorded version of U’re Gonna C Me was released in 2009 on the album MPLSound.
