The eagerly awaited debut album of Liverpool’s very own Clean Cut Kid has finally landed. The Indie pop four piece have revitalised the broken the typical populist barriers that have always divided Indie and Pop and emerged victorious with a barrage of cult classics, big choruses that make you wanna sing your heart out and verses that fill your soul with indie rock and roll.
Laid out at Liverpool’s very own Parr Street Studios with producer Rich Turvey, who culminated the likes of Blossoms and The Coral) and London’s Konk Studios with Arcade Fire collaborator Craig Silvey and London’s Voltaire Studios with Cam Blackwood – there was little chance of the final product falling flat.
The album song ‘Felt’ in particular takes me back to my not so distant childhood. The crazy breakdown which sees the song take off on a rampart – almost Busted-esque journey across time is a constant reminder that rock-pop needed a syringe to the heart, a kick up the arse and a slap in the face.
Clean Cut Kid’s debut album is a heartfelt indie pop anthology with back to back breakdowns, catchy riffs and countless stories of teenage heartbreak and unrequited love. Reviewed by indiecentralmusic.com.
