"Blot · Ilt · Taut" is the sixth full length studio album from Swedish Viking/Black Metal band Ereb Altor,
released February 26th, 2016 on the Cyclone Empire label.
After years of being constantly compared to Bathory, Ereb Altor seem to have finally embraced this comparison, and, with a nod to this phenomenal band, have now come up with a full-length album consisting solely of Bathory covers. Translating to “Blood, Fire, Death”, this album even goes as far as taking it’s name from an old Bathory album.
User Album Review
Unsurprisingly, the sound and production is a lot cleaner than Bathory’s; however, this is still delivered with all the power and emotion that Bathory commandeered. Granted, with no original songs, this isn’t likely to be a release that becomes a milestone in Ereb Altor’s history, but is still is something that fans of both bands should definitely cherish. “Blot · Ilt · Taut” stands as both a testament to Quorthon’s genius and to Ereb Altor’s outstanding ability to interpret these classics in a fresh way. I for one can’t wait to catch them live this year, and really hope that the band include some of these excellent covers during their upcoming performance!
