User Album Review
The best part about this album is the epic ambience it creates. Right from the instrumental intro titled “From The Depths Of Spring” to the epic ending in “The Vault”, the band keeps it grand and atmospheric all along the way. Jón Aldará’s vocals are unbelievably insane throughout the album. He imparts a lot of emotion in the songs with his soul-stirring clean vocals and jaw-dropping volcanic growls. Every time he does this, it seems as if he is shedding his human form and transforming into a monster. Kasper Mårtenson on the keyboards too provides a lot of atmospheric elements, balancing the melody and the epicness. Janne Perttilä and Sami Yli-Sirniö create amazing, soulful solos and pack a punch with epic folksy hooks. The album clocks at 64 minutes, with most of the tracks at around seven minutes. However, every second of this album is worth listening to. They have put enough stuff in there to keep you interested throughout.
To summarize, ‘On Lonely Towers’ is a journey that every metalhead should undertake. Get lost in the myriad emotions and let the melancholy consume you as you spin this album again and again and again. Recommended. metalwani.com
