User Album Review
With accomplished studio aficionados like Mader, Rainauld and Alexander collaborating on the recording, the sound couldn't have turned out to be anything but brilliant. “The production is as authentic and pure as the song material itself. These are genuine instruments, played by real people, with no fancy studio tricks. The drums get by entirely without samples, which is pretty unusual for studio productions these days. Samples are often used to optimize the sound of the drums. But there was nothing to be optimized about Ralph's drumming. Machine Head never used drum samples either. If something has been recorded perfectly, you shouldn't change anything.” You can feel the pride and confidence of everyone involved in “The Life I Remember”. For Lauren Hart the recording reflects the close collaboration in the band. “This is the music we feel deep inside,” she says, “very organic, very dynamic and authentic, with an identity all of its own.” Logan Mader adds: “It's pure metal. Nothing was designed on the drawing board, nothing panders to any trends or fashions or was produced with any commercial criteria in mind.”
