Album DescriptionAvailable in:
DMG's 100 Hits: Punk & New Wave spans five discs and leans heavily on the U.K. side of the scene. As genre compilations go, it offers up a pretty diverse selection of artists, ranging from the elegant disco-punk sensuality of Blondie to the sneering, hyper-sexualized cacophony of the Plasmatics. The only real criticism would be that the punk side of the coin, or to be more specific, the hardcore punk scene, is barely represented, which seems a little odd considering the wealth of acts that sprung up around Britannia in the '70s and '80s.
