Distributor of this disc, INTERSOUND is a Roswell, GA. based outfit. Their "Quintessence" series from the early '90s features budget priced all-DDD transfers of well known classical music, what's often referred to as "everyman classics." (Note: this is NOT a PROARTE product.)
Best-known are an excerpt from Vivaldi's "Four Seasons," the allegro assai of Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto #2," his "Arioso" and "Jesu" and Praetorius's "Boureé." The St. Louis Brass and Camerata Romana are competent musicians who perform flawlessly here-- often with molto brio.

Famous while alive for his operas, Albinoni is now remembered primarily for instrumental pieces.
JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH (1685-1750)

JOHANN JOSEPH FUX (1660-1741)
This theorist's treatise on counterpoint remains an essential part of classical music curricula.
MICHAEL PRAETORIUS (1571-1621)
This author/composer/organist wrote music based on Protestant hymns.
SAMUEL SCHEIDT (1587-1654)
Northern German teacher, composer/organist of the early Baroque era.
ANTONIO VIVALDI (1678-1741)
Virtuoso violinist, the "Red Priest" composed much of his works for young girl students of a publicly-financed Venetian orphanage.
