There has always been an audience for American country music in Ireland; don't forget that the Clinch Mountain area of southern Virginia and northeastern Tennessee, the birthplace of country music, was largely populated by Scots-Irish immigrants. Irish adult contemporary singer Daniel O'Donnell pays tribute to old-fashioned country and western with COUNTRY BOY. Tracks by Roger Miller, Buffy St. Marie, John Denver, and Kris Kristofferson make clear that COUNTRY BOY is focused on the "countrypolitan" sound of the 1960s and early '70s, and this pleasing retro vibe is heard even on more contemporary tunes.
