Album DescriptionAvailable in:
Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox upended all conventional wisdom about pop music and jazz with their debut album, which contains many of the collective's early viral video smash hits. Although the idea of hearing artists like Ke$ha and Macklemore reimagined as their 1920s hot jazz counterparts might sound odd at first exposure, the alchemy of old and new as presented by PMJ is so well-executed and so fresh that any sense of irony is quickly forgotten. Vocalists Robyn Adele Anderson, Miche Braden, and Puddles Pity Party imbue the piano-driven arrangements with passion and panache, and special guest doo wop group, The Tee Tones add an authentic warmth to "We Can't Stop" and "Timber" that makes those tracks sound like lost recordings from Hitsville, USA.
