Album DescriptionAvailable in:
100 Hits: 80s, a five-disc, budget-priced collection of U.K.-centric radio hits from the age of excess, offers up the usual assortment of key players and Top 100 lurkers. As one would imagine, new wave rules the roost here, with highlights coming from a-ha ("The Sun Always Shines on TV"), Echo & the Bunnymen ("The Cutter"), The Psychedelic Furs ("Pretty in Pink"), and Men Without Hats ("The Safety Dance"). Also, kudos to the compilers for including The Pogues' classic rendering of Ewan MacColl's "Dirty Old Town" and the Dream Academy's beautiful Nick Drake tribute, "Life in a Northern Town."
