Culling the nearly 60 songs used in Martin Scorsese's film, The Wolf of Wall Street, down to 16 choice cuts, the soundtrack to the iconic director's sprawling tale of the ravages of excess evokes the off-the-rails feeling of the film with its eclectic mish-mash of genres. With a mix of early rock (Bo Diddley's "Road Runner"), jazz (Cannonball Adderley's "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy"), slick pop (Billy Joel's "Movin' Out ,") and Latin rhythms (Joe Cuba's "Bang! Bang!"), this collection helps to capture the out-of-control nature of a film that pushes and pulls the viewers in every which way as it takes them on a frantic tour of the non-stop, cash-and-drug-fueled Bacchanalia of Stratton Oakmont. Although this set only features a fraction of the tracks used in the movie, it's nevertheless a solid disc that offers many of the film's thrills without all fraud and greed.
